Assimilator, 90 Capsules + Enzy-Prime, 60 Capsules

The pack combines two separate Coral Club digestive enzyme supplements, both manufactured in the USA: Assimilator (90 capsules) and Enzy-Prime (60 capsules). Each bottle carries its own label and directions.

Coral Club describes Assimilator as a plant-based enzyme supplement that helps break down carbohydrates and supports healthy digestion, and Enzy-Prime as a complex of 10 enzymes adapted to a modern, carbohydrate-rich diet that supports the digestion of proteins, fats and lactose-containing foods.*

Assimilator — 90 capsules

Each capsule contains eight enzymes — protease, amylase, lactase, cellulase, maltase, lipase, papain (from papaya) and bromelain (from pineapple) — together with 344 mcg of vitamin A (38% DV) and 5 mcg of vitamin D3 (25% DV). The label directs one capsule daily with a meal, so the bottle lasts 90 days.

Enzy-Prime — 60 capsules

Enzy-Prime contains three proteases, lipase, lactase, alpha-amylase, glucoamylase, invertase, cellulase, hemicellulase, pectinase and alpha-galactosidase, in a capsule with rice flour. It contains no vitamins and no fruit-derived enzymes. The US card gives the enzyme activities for a "daily portion" of three capsules but has no Directions section; at three capsules a day, the bottle lasts 20 days.

How the two differ — and where they overlap

Both products supply protease, amylase, lipase, lactase and cellulase, so taking them together means doubling up on those enzyme types rather than adding entirely different ones. What each adds on its own:

• Assimilator only: maltase, papain, bromelain and vitamins A and D3.
• Enzy-Prime only: glucoamylase, invertase, hemicellulase, pectinase and alpha-galactosidase — enzymes aimed at sugars and at plant carbohydrates such as those in beans and vegetables.

The pack card does not say whether the two are meant to be taken at the same meal or on alternate schedules. Follow the label on each bottle.

Enzyme units

Enzyme amounts appear as activity units — HUT, DU, LACU, FIP and others — rather than milligrams, because an enzyme's value lies in how much work it can do. Different manufacturers and assay methods use different units, so figures for the two products cannot be added together directly.

Points to check first

• Assimilator's papain and bromelain come from papaya and pineapple; people allergic to those fruits, or with latex allergy, may react.
• Papain and bromelain may add to the effect of anticoagulants.
• Neither product helps digest gluten.
• Anyone pregnant or nursing, or taking prescription medication, should consult a healthcare practitioner before use.

Dietary notes and storage

Both products are labeled gluten free, free of soy and made with plant-based capsules. Shelf life is 2 years. Store in a dry place at no more than 25°C (77°F), away from heat, light and moisture, out of reach of children.
