The capsule carries both forms, and they do different things. The 500 mg of root powder is the dried root itself, ground — which is where the inulin content the card refers to comes from. The 100 mg of extract is concentrated material, and the card declares neither its extraction ratio nor any standardization figure, so how much plant that 100 mg represents cannot be established from the label.
Arctium lappa is a member of the Asteraceae, alongside ragweed, chrysanthemum, marigold and chamomile. Sensitivity within that family is well documented in dermatology, and anyone who reacts to plants in it should take advice before using this product. A source is listed under Research.
The card states two different things. Among the product labels it reads "Capsules made from beef gelatin". In the ingredient panel the other ingredients list reads "Capsule (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, water)" — a plant-derived shell.
