Safrino is a dietary supplement manufactured in Slovenia for Coral Club. Each plant-based capsule contains 30 mg of Safr'Inside™ saffron (Crocus sativus) stigma extract, 350 mg of myo-inositol and 2.3 mg of zinc. The label directs adults to take one capsule a day with a meal for a one-month course, so a bottle of 30 capsules covers it.

Safr'Inside™ saffron extract
Safr'Inside™ is a patented saffron extract developed by the French company Activ'Inside. It is made from Iranian Sargol saffron and standardized to naturally occurring compounds — crocin, picrocrocin and safranal — which the company calls safromotivines.
The same type of extract, at 30 mg a day, has been tested in randomized trials. In a four-week study of healthy older adults with sleep complaints, it improved subjective and objective measures of sleep quality compared with placebo. In a six-week study of healthy adults with mild low mood, it did not significantly change the main outcome. Both studies were co-authored by the manufacturer and are listed under Research.
Myo-inositol
Myo-inositol is the most common form of inositol, a compound found in fruits, legumes and nuts and also made by the body. It is involved in cell signaling, including pathways used by serotonin and insulin. Coral Club states that it plays a supportive role in glucose metabolism and normal neurotransmitter activity.* The 350 mg in a capsule is much lower than the gram-level amounts used in most inositol studies.
Zinc
The 2.3 mg of zinc comes from zinc oxide in the capsule shell. The card lists it as 23% of the Daily Value; against the current Daily Value of 11 mg it is about 21%.
Who should check first
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Coral Club recommends consulting a doctor. Saffron in supplement amounts is generally avoided in pregnancy.
- Antidepressants and sedatives: saffron may add to the effect of medicines that act on mood or sleep; consult a physician.
- Blood sugar and blood pressure medicines: myo-inositol and saffron may add to their effect.
- Persistent low mood, anxiety or sleep problems deserve a medical assessment.
