Lax-Max is a dietary supplement manufactured in the USA for Coral Club. A serving of four capsules combines psyllium husk, magnesium and inulin with 15 botanical ingredients. The bottle holds 120 vegetable capsules — a 30-day supply at the directed four capsules each morning before breakfast.
Coral Club describes it as supporting healthy bowel movements, smooth bowel function and healthy digestion, and helping maintain balanced intestinal microflora.*
Lax-Max is sometimes read as a fiber product, but the formula also contains cascara sagrada bark, senna leaf and rhubarb root — 48 mg of each per serving. All three contain anthraquinones, compounds that stimulate the bowel wall. Coral Club states that these ingredients support colonic peristalsis.* Products of this kind are meant for short-term use, not as a permanent daily habit.

Federal regulations require this notice on supplements containing psyllium husk. Psyllium swells as it absorbs liquid, and four capsules should be followed by a full glass of water.
A serving provides 360 mg of magnesium. The Tolerable Upper Intake Level for magnesium from supplements is 350 mg a day for adults, so Lax-Max alone slightly exceeds it. Supplemental magnesium at this level commonly loosens stools, which is part of how the formula works, but anyone with reduced kidney function, or already taking another magnesium supplement, should speak to a physician first.
The card prints 96% of the Daily Value for magnesium; against the current Daily Value of 420 mg, 360 mg corresponds to 86%.
Inulin from chicory root is a soluble fiber. Coral Club states that psyllium husk and inulin help support healthy intestinal tone and peristalsis.* The remaining botanicals are alfalfa leaf extract, diatomaceous algae, lapacho (pau d'arco) bark, black walnut husk, cloves, bayberry root bark, watercress, parsley and rosemary leaves, echinacea and fenugreek seed. Anyone pregnant or nursing should consult a healthcare practitioner before use, as Coral Club directs. Stimulant laxative herbs are also generally avoided with abdominal pain of unknown cause, and Lax-Max should not be combined with other laxatives. Fiber can slow the absorption of medicines taken at the same time.
Coral Club labels the capsules plant-based and free of soy. Shelf life is 2 years. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding 77°F (25°C), out of reach of children.

Two points on the card itself: the panel names the last ingredient "fennel seed" while giving the botanical name of fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum), which is also what the ingredient list says; and the ingredient list mentions coral powder, which does not appear in the panel.
