Coral Black Walnut is a dietary supplement manufactured in the USA for Coral Club. The bottle holds 90 vegetable capsules, and the directed amount is two capsules twice a day with a meal.
The ingredient panel is stated per 2-capsule serving, not per capsule: 600 mg of black walnut leaf extract and 100 mg of oregano leaf extract. Per single capsule that works out to 300 mg and 50 mg.
At the directed four capsules a day the daily totals are 1200 mg of black walnut leaf extract and 200 mg of oregano leaf extract, and a bottle of 90 capsules covers 22 days.
According to Coral Club, the plant-based ingredients are traditionally used to support digestive health and help promote internal balance, and the active components support the body's natural detoxification and elimination processes, contributing to a clean digestive environment, gut comfort and an overall sense of vitality.*
The extract is made from the leaves of the black walnut, not from the nut, and the card carries no tree nut allergen statement. Even so, walnut is one of the nine major food allergens recognized in the United States, and anyone with a diagnosed walnut or pecan allergy should confirm the sourcing and manufacturing arrangements with Coral Club before taking the product.
One of the other ingredients is coconut powder, which the FDA also classifies as a tree nut for labeling purposes.
The US card sets no maximum course length. Worth noting that a bottle lasts about three weeks at the directed amount, and that the Romanian label for the same product caps a course at one month, citing the juglone content. Whatever the reason for the difference between markets, taking the product for months on end is not something the label supports, and a practitioner is the right person to ask about repeating courses.
Coral Club declares the product gluten free, Halal certified, free of soy, made with plant-based capsules and suitable for vegetarians. The other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, coconut powder, hypromellose and water.
Coral Club's stated precaution is that anyone pregnant or nursing should consult a healthcare practitioner before taking the product. Shelf life is 2 years. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding 77°F, out of reach of children.
Amount per serving, where a serving is 2 capsules — the basis the manufacturer uses on the panel.
| Ingredient | Per 2 capsules | Per 1 capsule | % DV |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black walnut (Juglans nigra) leaf extract | 600 mg | 300 mg | — |
| Oregano (Origanum vulgare) leaf extract | 100 mg | 50 mg | — |
The FDA has not established a Daily Value for either extract, which the dashes mark. At the directed four capsules a day the totals are 1200 mg and 200 mg.
No extraction ratio and no standardization figure is declared, so the juglone content of the walnut extract and the carvacrol content of the oregano extract are not known from the card.
Take two capsules twice a day with a meal, swallowed with water.
Daily intake at that rate is four capsules — 1200 mg of black walnut leaf extract and 200 mg of oregano leaf extract. A bottle of 90 capsules covers 22 days.
Do not exceed the amount directed for daily intake.
Shelf life 2 years. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding 77°F, out of reach of children.
No published clinical study has assessed this finished product. Human research on black walnut leaf extract is limited; the sources below concern juglone, carvacrol and walnut allergy.
