Read this first: St John's wort
St John's wort can lower the blood levels and effectiveness of many medicines by activating the liver enzyme CYP3A4 and the transporter P-glycoprotein. Affected medicines include hormonal contraceptives, cyclosporine and tacrolimus, warfarin, digoxin, some statins and HIV medicines. It can also add to the effect of antidepressants and other serotonergic medicines. How strongly an extract interacts depends largely on its hyperforin content, which the card does not state.
Anyone taking any prescription medicine should speak to a physician or pharmacist before starting MindSet. Do not combine it with Coral Club's Evening Formula, which also contains St John's wort, or with Griffonia (5-HTP) without medical advice. St John's wort can increase the skin's sensitivity to sunlight.

Other interactions to know
- Bleeding: ginkgo, reishi and ginger may add to the effect of anticoagulant and antiplatelet medicines; tell your doctor before surgery.
- Thyroid and MAOIs: L-tyrosine is a precursor of thyroid hormones and catecholamines; consult a physician if you take thyroid medication or an MAO inhibitor.
- Blood sugar: alpha-lipoic acid may lower blood sugar; consult a physician if you take glucose-lowering medicines.

The capsule is made from beef gelatin, so MindSet is not suitable for vegetarians. Coral Club labels it gluten free and free of soy.
