Promarine Collagen Tripeptides

Promarine Collagen Tripeptides is a liquid dietary supplement manufactured in Taiwan for Coral Club. The one-month course contains 3 packs of 10 vials — 30 in total, and the label directs one vial per day in the morning for 30 days.

Each vial contains 15 g of hydrolyzed fish collagen liquid, including 3.5 g of Maxicollagen, together with hibiscus flower extract, white currant extract, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, vitamins B6 and B2, spinach and biotin.

Collagen tripeptides

Collagen is the main structural protein of the skin. Hydrolyzed collagen is broken down into small fragments; tripeptides are the smallest of these, made of three amino acids. The card identifies Maxicollagen as the tripeptide-rich component but does not describe it further, and it does not state the collagen's fish species or origin.

The other ingredients

• Vitamin C, 100 mg — needed for normal collagen formation.*
• Hyaluronic acid (as sodium hyaluronate), 72 mg — a water-binding molecule naturally present in skin.
• Hibiscus sabdariffa flower extract, 1.5 g, and white currant extract, 700 mg — plant extracts rich in polyphenols.
• Vitamin B6 1.8 mg, vitamin B2 1.7 mg and biotin 50 mcg — B vitamins involved in normal energy metabolism.*

What the evidence says

Meta-analyses of randomized trials of oral hydrolyzed collagen have reported improvements in skin hydration and elasticity, although the trials vary widely in product, dose and duration. Coral Club's card links a document describing a 12-week randomized controlled trial of this product; no such study could be found in PubMed, so its results are not reported here. Before use

• Fish: the collagen comes from fish. Coral Club labels the product suitable for pescatarians.
• Precautions from the label: individual intolerance to the components, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Consult a physician before use.
• Blood pressure medicines: hibiscus may lower blood pressure; consult a physician if you take antihypertensives.

Dietary notes and storage

Coral Club labels the product lactose free, halal certified and free of soy. Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, out of reach of children, at no more than 75°F (24°C). Do not use if the protective label is broken or missing.
