Coral-Mine is a dietary supplement manufactured in Japan from coral minerals. One sachet is placed in 1.5 liters (1.58 quarts) of drinking water, and after 5 minutes the water is ready to drink. A sachet provides 356 mg of calcium from coral (27% of the Daily Value), 15 mg of magnesium from coral (4%) and 5 mg of vitamin C from ascorbic acid (6%). A pack contains 10 sachets.

According to Coral Club, the minerals come from coral formations near the Okinawa and Tokunoshima islands of southern Japan. The card places them in the Sea of Japan; both islands in fact belong to the Ryukyu chain, between the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Coral skeletons are made mostly of calcium carbonate, which is why calcium is by far the main mineral.
The card also gives values for an 8 fl oz (about 240 ml) drink: 59 mg of calcium (4% of the Daily Value), 2.5 mg of magnesium and 0.8 mg of vitamin C. Drinking the whole 1.5 liters over a day provides the full sachet amount. For comparison, many bottled mineral waters contain between a few and several hundred milligrams of calcium per liter, and studies show that calcium from mineral water is absorbed about as well as calcium from milk.
About 99% of the body's calcium is stored in bones and teeth. Calcium supports bone structure and normal muscle function, and helps muscles and blood vessels contract and relax, supports nerve signaling, and contributes to enzyme activity and hormone secretion.* Magnesium is involved in over 300 biochemical reactions and helps maintain normal muscle and nerve function and normal heart rhythm.* Vitamin C enhances the absorption of iron from plant-based foods and supports the production of collagen in connective tissues such as blood vessels, cartilage and skin.*
The Daily Value for calcium is 1,300 mg. The upper intake level is 2,500 mg a day for adults aged 19–50 and 2,000 mg a day from age 51, counting food and supplements together. One sachet adds 356 mg, so anyone who already takes a calcium supplement or eats plenty of dairy can add it into their total. Calcium can reduce the absorption of some medicines, including certain antibiotics, thyroid hormone and bisphosphonates.
The card advises anyone pregnant or nursing to consult a healthcare practitioner before use. People with a history of kidney stones, high blood calcium or reduced kidney function should ask a physician before adding calcium to their daily intake.
Coral Club states that Coral-Mine does not contain soy. The calcium and magnesium come from coral, which is a marine animal, so vegans may want to take that into account; the card makes no vegetarian or vegan claim. Shelf life is 5 years. Store the remaining sachets in a dry place out of reach of children, and do not use a sachet if its seal is broken or missing.
