Memo-Prime

Memo-Prime is a dietary supplement manufactured in Slovenia for Coral Club. Each plant-based capsule contains 300 mg of Memophenol™, 50 mg of green tea leaf extract, vitamin B6 2 mg (118% DV), folate 100 mcg as L-methylfolate (Extrafolate-S®, 25% DV), vitamin B12 3 mcg (125% DV) and zinc 2.3 mg (21% DV). The label directs one capsule daily with a meal, in the morning or afternoon, so a bottle of 30 lasts a month.

Coral Club states that Memo-Prime supports memory and concentration and cognitive performance during periods of occasional stress.*

Memophenol™

Memophenol™ is a patented polyphenol extract from French grape (Vitis vinifera) and wild Canadian blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium), developed by Activ'Inside in France. It received a NutraIngredients award in 2017.

Published placebo-controlled studies of this grape and blueberry extract used 600 mg a day — twice the amount in one Memo-Prime capsule. In a six-month trial in 215 healthy adults aged 60–70, the extract improved a measure of episodic memory in participants whose memory performance was lower at the start. A second, short crossover study tested a single dose in 30 healthy students during a sustained cognitive task. No study has assessed Memo-Prime itself. Both studies are listed under Research.

Green tea extract

The green tea extract is standardized to 95% epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a catechin that provides antioxidant support.* The card does not state its caffeine content. At 50 mg a day, the amount of EGCG is far below the high doses that have been linked to liver concerns.

B vitamins and zinc

Vitamins B6, folate and B12 support normal nervous system function and energy metabolism.* The forms used — pyridoxal-5′-phosphate, L-methylfolate and methylcobalamin — are the body's active forms. The zinc comes from zinc oxide in the capsule shell.

Who can take it

The directions address adults; the card's description also mentions use from 14 years of age. Coral Club directs anyone with a known sensitivity to an ingredient to avoid the product, and anyone pregnant, nursing or under medical supervision to consult a healthcare professional first. Anyone taking anticoagulants should also ask a physician, as grape polyphenols and green tea can affect clotting-related medicines.

Dietary notes and storage

Coral Club labels Memo-Prime gluten free, free of soy and suitable for vegetarians. Shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Store in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, at no more than 25°C (77°F), out of reach of children.
