O!Mega-3 TG is a dietary supplement manufactured in Spain from the oil of anchovies, sardines, mackerel and tuna. Each capsule contains 1,000 mg of fish oil providing 650 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, of which 360 mg is EPA and 240 mg is DHA, together with 6.71 mg of vitamin E (45% of the Daily Value). The label directs one capsule three times a day with meals, so a bottle of 90 capsules lasts 30 days.
Coral Club states that DHA and EPA support normal heart function, that DHA helps support normal vision and brain function, and that omega-3 fatty acids play roles in maintaining heart, immune, nervous system and eye health.*
EPA and DHA
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are long-chain omega-3 fatty acids found mainly in oily cold-water fish. The body can make only very small amounts of them from the plant omega-3 ALA, so fish and supplements are the practical sources. DHA is a structural fat in the brain and the retina.
At the directed three capsules a day, O!Mega-3 TG provides 1,080 mg of EPA and 720 mg of DHA — 1,800 mg of EPA and DHA combined. The FDA considers intakes of up to 5 grams a day of EPA and DHA from dietary supplements safe for adults.
Why "TG"
TG stands for triglyceride. Fish oil concentrates are made by converting the natural oil to ethyl esters, which allows the omega-3 fatty acids to be concentrated. In O!Mega-3 TG they are then converted back — re-esterified — into triglycerides, the form in which fats occur in fish. Coral Club states that this form is easily absorbed; published comparisons have generally found re-esterified triglycerides absorbed at least as well as ethyl esters.
According to Coral Club, the oil is purified with Flutex, a fish oil purification technology, and omega-3 fatty acids make up 65% of the oil — 650 mg in each 1,000 mg capsule.
Vitamin E
Each capsule contains vitamin E as D-alpha-tocopherol, the natural form, plus 4 mg of mixed tocopherols. Vitamin E protects cells from oxidative stress, and in fish oil tocopherols also help protect the fatty acids themselves from oxidation.*
Who should check first
The card advises anyone pregnant or breastfeeding to consult a doctor before use. Anyone taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicines, or scheduled for surgery, should ask a physician first, because higher intakes of omega-3 fatty acids can affect bleeding time. The product contains fish.

No published clinical study has assessed O!Mega-3 TG as a finished product.
