Interactions matter here because hawthorn may add to the effect of heart medicines such as digoxin, beta-blockers and nitrates, and hibiscus and hawthorn may add to the effect of blood pressure medicines. Motherwort is traditionally avoided during pregnancy, and anyone sensitive to caffeine should note the green coffee extract.
